In the oldest of olden times the only way man could extend communications to his neighbors was to learn to shout louder.  Over the centuries, his felt need to extend his range led to many advancements including the use of whistles and horns, the use of drums, and later the use of flags, solar mirrors, and lanterns at night.

The discovery of electricity opened the door for the first major breakthrough in man’s quest for long distance communications, at first telegraphy then radio.

As the science of radio progressed so did need for more discoveries in the field. In a few short years early spark gap radio advanced to voice, then video and finally today’s digital modes of transmitting communications worldwide. Radio in all of its forms still remains the means of long distance communications on the planet.

At first all users of radios were amateur radio operators in one way or another. This blog is for those who are still in awe of  Amateur Radio, Short Wave Listening, repair, experimenting, collecting, and/or  the like.

This  site is committed providing a place where those interested in radio communications can exchange dialog with other of the same interests. Hams, CB enthusiasts, Short Wave Listeners, antique radio restoration and collecting and any others with the interest are welcome here. If you don’t find a suitable category for you particular interests send me a request for it to be added.

This blog’s name, TheDrumSay is our way of honoring those whose grit and wisdom have brought us from learning to shout louder to present modern radio use.
